FurEver Be My Valentine Gala
FurEver Be My Valentine Gala has helped to raise money for the shelter’s animals with fun filled Valentine’s Day events. Evenings have included raffle tickets for a Las Vegas trip that included airline tickets, hotel, dinner and a Cirque du Soleil show, silent auctions, and more. An Elvis impersonator from Las Vegas visited Pinedale on one occasion and entertained the crowd with classic Elvis songs and an outgoing personality. Tim Ruland’s photography talent captured some great pictures of folks having a “Jailhouse Rock” of a time with Elvis!
Custom Fine Wines provided us with a fine selection of wines and Wind River Brewing Company made sure that we had some of their finest ales at hand. Sue Eversull made sure that no one went away hungry! Silent auction items gave that special down home feeling… a wonderful reminder of the ingenuity and creativity of the folks who live in this town. Thanks to all our donors and the sponsored radio ads that helped promote the event, the events have been a success!
It was wonderful to be able to visit with folks who have adopted pets from Happy Endings and hear their FurEver home stories. These evenings tend to go by quickly but we hope that everyone enjoyed themselves! FurEver Be My Valentine Gala helped to raise money for the rescue animals with a fun-filled Valentine’s Day event.
Christmas is a time for giving and when we can, H.E.A.R. tries to give back to the community and others by sharing proceeds from fundraising events. During the holiday season, we have held Christmas Pet Photo Shoots. People were able to take Christmas inspired photos of and/or with their pets. This has allowed us to also help victims of natural disasters, such as Hurricane Sandy, by donating half of the proceeds to rescues that was part of the catastrophes.
We also hosted a “Home for the Holidays” pet food drive one year to collect items needed for families to help feed their four-legged loved ones! We wanted to give back to our local community and help prevent pets from becoming homeless by working with the local community to provide pet food to struggling families. The generosity of our donors is unsurpassed during these times!
Paws For A Poker Run
This approximately 3 mile walk took place in Pinedale. It works by buying a poker hand and collecting cards at several stations along the route, just like a true poker game, the best hand wins the pot. There were also door prizes at each station that were won by drawing the matching predetermined card. Folks enjoyed walking with their favorite bud and hoped to collect a winning hand before returning to the Happy Endings Animal Rescue garage. It was a great time for everyone especially seeing the new walking trails in the town park. There was a little something for everyone. Folks enjoy having a way to help the rescue! The last 2 years, the winners have donated their winnings or part of their winnings back to the rescue… Thank you!
Rendezvous Paws & Refresh Station
This event was held during Pinedale’s annual Green River Rendezvous. We provided a rest haven for folks to rest and get some water for themselves and their dogs. We even had a couple of “saloon girls” dressed up for the occasion out collecting donations.
Workshops, Classes & Conferences
We have hosted a few workshops with funding from the Town of Pinedale. One of these workshops was a six week dog obedience class conducted by Parris Cook. Each player got a bag of treats and a clicker. Happy Endings Animal Rescue board members have also participated in other classes such as a dog obedience class through BOCES, taught by Jill Straley. Participants received a bag of treats and a nice leather leash during this event. These were both wonderful classes that provided a wealth of knowledge to help us with our animal/pet relationship. We worked with our dogs on commands such as heel, sit, stay, watch and place. Congratulations to all who completed these courses!
Other workshops have included how to take steps to control feral cat populations, responsible pet ownership and fostering. HEAR board members have also attended the Best Friend Animal Society national conference on several occasions. These conferences are full of tips and people that help us to help our animal friends.
Dog Days in the Park
Dog Days in the ParkHEAR has hosted events in the park comprised of doggy fun-filled activities for owners and their pets. Some of the activities have been dog obedience and agility demonstrations, dog biscuit bobbing, paw print painting and dog walks.
